Read Hebrews 3:8-4:16
and the institute manual commentary for Hebrews 3:11” What dose it mean to
enter into the “rest” of the Lord? Write answers to the following questions:
What group of people
was refused entrance into the Lords rest?
Ancient Israel, or the people of Cannon.
What sins caused them
to forfeit this privilege?
A Harden heart is what prevents them from entering into
God’s rest. (Hebrews 3:8) Their hearts became harden because of their sins.
There are a number of sins that Israel did to make the Lord angry. One of them
was building a golden calf, while Moose was getting the Ten Commandments.
How dose D&C
84:23-24 helps define what is the Lords rest?
D&C define the Lords rest as the knowledge of God’s
love, and it’s where we find peace.
What sins did Paul
repeatedly warn against to avoid the same punishment?
Paul warned us not to lose our faith in the knowledge of the
gospel. We can learn from the mistakes of other.
How do you think the
warning in Hebrews 3:12-15 apply to us?
All warning applies to us. “Without agency, none of us could grow and develop by learning
from our mistakes and errors and those of others.” James E Faust. We can learn
from everyone’s mistakes including Israel’s. We should not worship ideals or
give into Satan temptations. It only leads to harm.

found in Hebrews 4 that will help a person enter into the rest of the Lord?
The person that seeks, feels and receives is the one that
will find rest in the Lord because they will know of him.
How do Matthew
7:21-23 John 7:17 James 1:22 help in understanding how the word needs to be
mixed with Faith.” (Hebrews 4:2-3)
We know that faith without works is dead and just like
principal of teaching a lesion without the sprit is just a lesion; no one can
gain a testimony or a conversation without the Spirit. We also need to have a testimony
for our selves concerning the gospel, other wise it’s just a hollow experiences.
