Unit 2 Choice  1

1)   I feel that I can contend the faith by not only showing mercy, having peace and by loving others. But by actively doing those actions towards other, so we can surround ourselves with goodness and gladness.

2)   A.  It’s referring to our premortal excitants. Before we had bodies, we lived as sprits with our Father in Heaven and some of those sprits choose not to have the plan of happiness.
B. According to the article of faith we believe that the scripture are true as long as they are translated correctly. I feel that the in Satan and Michaels “sins” is that Michal had the desire to follow Heavenly father and to change his ways. Satan just wants glory for himself.
C. According to Jude 1:14 the Lord will have “ten thousands of his saints “ to help him with the 2nd coming.

3) Nephi taught that the Lord gave no commandment unto the children of men without providing a way. Our Heavenly Father knows that there are false teachers so he has given us tools or resources to see throw and over come false teachers. One of the greatest tools he has given us it a member of the Godhead. The Holy Ghost, he’s there to warn us of right and wrong. We have also been given the gifts of mercy and compassion. The ability to make mistakes and have a do over because of the atonement of Christ.

Unit 1 Choice 2

2 Peter 2:1-19 is where Peter teachers us ways to recognize false teachers by seeing their Characteristics.

1) “ They shall follow their pernicious ways”-(Peter 2:2)

“ They with feigned words make merchandise of you.” Or in other words they will sell us things.          (2 Peter 2:3)

They follow the old law, so they can turn our cities into Sodom and Gomorrha.” (2 Peter 2:7)

“Selfwillled,” “Presumptous,” lust of uncleanness. (2Peter 2:10)

“Adultery, and curse children.” Their the people that don’t want us to have children but to live with      one another without getting married. (2 Peter 2:14)

They fallow “Balaam” who loved unrightessneness (2Peter 2:15)

They promise liberty, but are in bondage.  (2 Peter 2:19)

“Speak great swelling words of vanity” “Allure to lustful thoughts “ ( 2 Peter 2:18)

We know that false teachers are one of Satan’s greatest tools, in deceiving the son of man. By knowing their tactics we can better prepare, and see avoid them. It’s easier to avoid something that you know what it is and how it can hurt you.

2) The reason why it’s dangers to return to the “pollutions of the world” is because man has the trendies for falling back into our old ways. It’s very hard to with stand the temptations of the world especially after you have had a taste of sin. It’s a moment of pleasure that doesn’t provide lasting happiness’s.

Unit 2 Choice 4

Read 1 Peter 1:1-9; 2:12, 15, 20-25: 3;11-16; 4:12-19. Write two to three paragraphs using the principles of these verses to explain to someone who says: Life isn’t fair. Why do I have to have so many trials? I’m tired of being ridiculed by those who do not keep the commandments.”

The reason why I choose this assignment was because I feel that I have been that person that cries to the heavens with “Life not fair” and “why me”. I’m the 2nd oldest of 6 so I believe this attitude started quit young. In my own personal journey of feeling like the “other prodigal son” I have come to love this quote from Richard Claffield. “The gospel of Jesus Christ is not an insurance against pain. It is a resource in the event of pain.” Our life’s are not meant to be perfect, but made perfect with the atonement of Christ in the life to come.

I believe that others can find comfort in 1 Peter 4:12-13 when it says. “ (12) The fiery trail which is to try you as thought some strange thing happened unto you: (13) But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.”  We should not considered, our trails as God not loving us enough. This scripture is saying the opposite. When we suffering, we are suffering how are Savior suffered for us. It’s not something we should take for granted because the Son of God is perfect and we are emulating him. It also means that we will experice the Son of God’s joy when his work is finished.

We should not let the world get to us. It’s one of Satan greatest tools; twisting the truth to make us disbelieve in God’s love. If we but endure to the end, great things will come to those that are rightness.  Heavenly Father is the “faithful Creator” and will not aboded us. (1 Peter 4:19)

Unit 1 Choice 3

Paul concluded his epistle to Hebrews with some brief teaching and statements of counsel. Read Hebrews 13 and find statements about the following questions.

How should we treat stranger and those ‘in bonds”?
Paul used in the word entertain in Hebrews 13:2. I feel it means that we should remember to invite and include them so we can show them kindness/ friendship. The reason for this is because we never know what is in their hearts and the spirit might be needed us to help open the door to the gospel.
How is marriage looked upon?
Marriage to Paul in Hebrew 13:4 is honorable. There is now shame for a man and women to be married. God will also never punish you for getting married.
What warnings are given about covetousness?
In Hebrew 13:5 it says that we should remember to be content with what we have because God gave everything to us and He will always provide.
What is the “same yesterday, and today and forever?
Jesus Christ is the “same yesterday, today, and forever. Hebrews 13:8.
How are we sanctified?
Hebrews 13: 12 is where Paul states that Jesus is how we are sanctified. It throw his blood and suffering that we are saved. He offers up sacrifices to him using our “lips” and good deeds.
How do we respond to those who rule over us?
Hebrews 13:17 Paul says that we should “obey” those who rule over us because they watch our for our souls and are accountable before god for our joy and grief.
Who did Paul ask the people to pray for?

In Hebrews 13:18 Paul says that we should pray for everybody, in hopes to live a more honest life.

Unit 2 Choice 6

Read Hebrews 3:8-4:16 and the institute manual commentary for Hebrews 3:11” What dose it mean to enter into the “rest” of the Lord? Write answers to the following questions:

What group of people was refused entrance into the Lords rest?
Ancient Israel, or the people of Cannon.

What sins caused them to forfeit this privilege?
A Harden heart is what prevents them from entering into God’s rest. (Hebrews 3:8) Their hearts became harden because of their sins. There are a number of sins that Israel did to make the Lord angry. One of them was building a golden calf, while Moose was getting the Ten Commandments.

How dose D&C 84:23-24 helps define what is the Lords rest?
D&C define the Lords rest as the knowledge of God’s love, and it’s where we find peace.

What sins did Paul repeatedly warn against to avoid the same punishment?
Paul warned us not to lose our faith in the knowledge of the gospel. We can learn from the mistakes of other.

How do you think the warning in Hebrews 3:12-15 apply to us?
All warning applies to us. “Without agency, none of us could grow and develop by learning from our mistakes and errors and those of others.” James E Faust. We can learn from everyone’s mistakes including Israel’s. We should not worship ideals or give into Satan temptations. It only leads to harm.

List the counsel found in Hebrews 4 that will help a person enter into the rest of the Lord?
The person that seeks, feels and receives is the one that will find rest in the Lord because they will know of him.

How do Matthew 7:21-23 John 7:17 James 1:22 help in understanding how the word needs to be mixed with Faith.” (Hebrews 4:2-3)

We know that faith without works is dead and just like principal of teaching a lesion without the sprit is just a lesion; no one can gain a testimony or a conversation without the Spirit. We also need to have a testimony for our selves concerning the gospel, other wise it’s just a hollow experiences.
