New Testament Class 2014

Introduction:

Growing up, my Dad would often ask questions to make us think. On Sunday's for example he would ask us "if you could meet any Prophet who would it be and why? Despite growing older my Dad would often ask this same questions, only my responses would be more negative. For example I did not want to be like the Prophet Peter. He lived with Christ and walked on water but then lost the his faith. The story of Peter walking on water has taken on a whole new meaning this last year for me. I have learned that I am Peter (or hope to be) and even thought I stumble or sink Christ is there to pick me up and lead me to safety.

With my experience with Peter in mind I have chosen to take a New Testament class where I can better understand Peter and the work he did with our Savior. The following are some notes I took.

 Themes found in Acts 1-12:

Chapter 1- Jesus' ministry after His resurrection, The Twelve mission and Matthias' conformation.
Chapter 2- Peter teaches of the resurrection and converts people.
Chapter 3- Peter and John heal and teach of repentance. Peter talks of the second coming and confirms that Jesus is prophet that Moses spoke of.
Chapter 4-Peter and John are arrested, Peter Testifies of salvation. The saints gain a testimony of Christ and how he knows them personally.
Chapter 5-Peter and John are saved by an angel, Ananias and Sapphira are liars and die, and Apostles continue to teach.
Chapter 6-Apostles get 7 assistants.
Chapter 7- Stephen sees Christ and bears his testimony of the history of Israel, Moses, and the apostasy in Israel. He seals his testimony with his blood.
Chapter 8-Saul persecutes the church, missionary report in Samaria, Philip works miracles and converts people to the gospel. Peter and John give the of the Holy Ghost witch cannot be bought.
Chapter 10- Angel ministers to Cornelius, Peter is commanded to take the gospel to the Gentiles, Holy Ghost falls upon Gentiles.
Chapter 11- God grants repentances to the Gentiles, The Church is guided by revelation.
Chapter 12- Martyrdom of James is described, Angle frees Peter from prison. Herod dies by disease.

Bible Dictionary:
